Globally more than 222 million are presently experiencing high acute food insecurity with one in five struggling to access enough food to survive the day. (FAO, 2022)
When it comes to food production, we are all connected! Students from Cuba, Egypt, Ireland, Italy and Rwanda recently joined together to produce a video for FAO's World Food Day. Together we can help build a sustainable future with healthy food for all.
“May their land be blessed by the Lord with the precious gift of dew from the heavens and water from beneath the earth; with the rich fruit that grows in the sun, and the rich harvest produced each month; with the finest crops of the ancient mountains, and the abundance from the everlasting hills,” | Deuteronomy 33:13-15
“The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry.” | Isaiah 55:10

“If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you the seasonal rains. The land will then yield its crops, and the trees of the field will produce their fruit. You will eat your fill and live securely in your own land.” | Leviticus 26:3-5
"For seven days you must celebrate this festival to honor the Lord your God at the place He chooses, for it is He who blesses you with bountiful harvests and gives you success in all your work. This festival will be a time of great joy for all." | Deuteronomy 16:15
As growers for Grace, we have been called to be stewards of God's miraculous abundances, producing fruit that nourishes our lands, the nations and the needs of others by an outpouring of a crop produced with living water.
"May our barns be filled with crops of every kind. May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands, even tens of thousands, and may our oxen be loaded down with produce. May there be no enemy breaking through our walls, no going into captivity, no cries of alarm in our town squares. Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord." | Psalm 144:13-15
Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.” | Ezekiel 47:12
Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. | Revelation 22:1-2

They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. | Jeremiah 17:8
O God, our heavenly Father, whose blessed Son has taught us to seek our daily bread from you: Behold the affliction of your people, and send us swift aid in our time of need. Increase the fruits of the earth by your heavenly benediction; and grant that we, receiving your gifts with thankful hearts, may use them to your glory; for the relief of those in need, and for our own health; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
(Prayers from The Book of Common Prayer, Anglican Liturgy Press, 2019)
“You drench the plowed ground with rain, melting the clods and leveling the ridges. You soften the earth with showers and bless its abundant crops.
